John Cabot’s voyage was funded by England. In 1497, he left England, and set sail across the Atlantic. He found a large island called Newfoundland. Cabot also traveled south along the coast of present day Canada, but never found a path through Asia. On his second voyage, he disappeared and was never found or heard from again.
